After a promising summer both on and off the pitch, Juventus have announced that they will not be conducting any further transfer business before the current window closes. While their performances on the pitch have not been without a few small set-backs, their transfer negotiations have been perceived as good enough to challenge Inter for the scudetto.
"Juve's market is closed, both coming in and going out," general director Jean-Claude Blanc told Il Corriere dello Sport.
"The pitch will be where the verdicts [on its success] are given. The summer party will be over in a few days, the real football begins on August 23."
Juventus begin the season with a home game against Chievo, which previously unwanted midfielder Christian Poulsen may now feature in following the sale of Cristiano Zanetti. When Blanc was quizzed about Poulsen's future, he praised the Dane's mentality.
"He has joined the squad and will show everyone that he was right, in that the negative assessment of him was wrong.
"It [the sale of Zanetti] was simply a transfer to make ends meet," the director added.
With additions such as Diego and Felipe Melo, the Bianconeri fans are deservedly excited about the new season, but Blanc warns that there is a difficult road ahead of Juventus if they are to win the title.
"I have seen that the confidence of the fans has grown because we have made some significant investments. However, it will be on the pitch where we find out if we will be competitive with Inter. The difference will be the amount of work and commitment.
"I don't think that the scudetto will be between two teams, but many will fight until the end and there will be difficulties every Sunday."
