Juventus Transfer Campaign Is Finished - John Elkann

Today Juventus played their traditional pre-season friendly against the Primavera youth team at Villar Perosa. Present at the match was vice-president and shareholder John Elkann, who talked about the team's current situation.

"This Juventus team must show on the pitch that they are a team that can aim for the top, after making some great purchases," he said to journalists. "I'm not only referring to the new arrivals, but also to the older players, like [David] Trezeguet for example."The transfer campaign? It's closed, we are not buying any more players."Asked if there was still a gap dividing them from Italian champions Inter, Elkann said (referring to the Nerazzurri's 2-1 defeat in the Italian Supercup against Lazio): "The gap from Inter? Ask Lazio."In any case, our objective is to continue doing well. We have this project which starts with [coach Ciro] Ferrara and we want to bring it forward."On new signing Diego, he commented: "He's a player who has shown over the course of some years that he's a champion, not just in this part of the season with Juventus."As for [Claudio] Marchisio's call up to the Italian national team, his presence and that of several other Bianconeri players with the national team makes us very proud.
