Claudio Ranieri And Juventus Officially Part Ways

It took almost three months after his sacking, but now coach Claudio Ranieri and Juventus are no longer connected in any way. The contract which tied the former Chelsea boss to the Bianconeri until June 2010 was resolved between Thursday and Friday, according to reports from Goal.com Italia.

It was not simple to reach an agreement, considering also the deteriorated relationship between Ranieri and the club's management, who controverisally decided to sack him with just two matches to go before the end of last season. However, everything has been resolved now with full reciprocal satisfaction.

The coach, along with all his staff, will receive a sum equal to a year's salary. However, the club also agreed with the coach that he is not allowed to take on a new team until 31 December 2009.

If rumours linking Ranieri to Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg are true, this last condition will not pose much of a problem for him, since the new Russian league season only begins in January.

Juventus Approach Wolfsburg For Zaccardo

Although the Juventus management have said that their transfer campaign is over, the club are still often linked with possible new signings.

According to Sky Sport 24, they have now started negotiating with German champions Wolfsburg for the purchase of full-back Cristian Zaccardo.

This would continue the club's policy of favouring Italian players, and after Olympique Lyon's Fabio Grosso, Zaccardo is the second World Cup winning full-back to be linked with the Bianconeri this summer.

The confirmation of the contact between the two clubs reportedly came from Wolfsburg's management. The player is no longer part of coach Armin Veh's plans.

Despite scoring six goals in ten games during the pre-season period, in the first two matches of the new Bundesliga, both of which Wolfsburg won, he was only used for a few minutes on both occasions. This has not gone down well with Zaccardo, who understandably wants more playing time.

The 27-year-old joined Wolfsburg from Palermo last summer.

Juventus To Make Renewed Bid For Fabio Grosso If Paolo De Ceglie Joins Napoli

Juventus may make a new move for Olympique Lyonnais left-back Fabio Grosso if Paolo De Ceglie joins Napoli, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

Grosso had been expected to join Ciro Ferrara’s revolution in Turin earlier in the summer, but a few weeks ago Juventus removed their interest in the player.

Similarly, left-back-searching Napoli had also been favourites to snap up Juve youngster De Ceglie, but all talk of this transfer has died down recently.

However, the Corriere claims that the Partenopei may make a renewed bid for De Ceglie as coach Roberto Donadoni is unhappy with Luigi Vitale.

If this transfer were to go through, this would likely push Juventus back into the market for Grosso, a player who will probably be available for around €5 million following Lyon’s signing of Aly Cissokho from Porto.

Despite Juventus’ impressive pre season, which culminated in the TIM Trophy win last night, the Old Lady have looked very shaky in defence and a left-back in the form of Grosso would certainly please many fans.

Juventus' Giorgio Chiellini: Amauri Has Chosen Italy Over Brazil

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has declared that team-mate Amauri will be playing for Italy in the coming months, turning his back on Brazil, where he was born.

Amauri has never played for the South American team and he is just obtaining an Italian passport, which paves the way for him to wear the blue of the Italian shirt.
However, critics have hit out at the player, stating that he will play for Italy only because he has no place in the Brazilian national team.
"There is nothing official yet, but I think that his choice has already been made," revealed the former Fiorentina player to Studio Sport.
"We hope to have him with us in the Italian national team, because Amauri is a great person and a great player, and he can help us a lot."
The 29-year-old player is starting out his second season with Juventus, with whom he has made 32 Serie A appearances, scoring a total of 12 goals.

Juventus' Zdenek Grygera Is Unlikely To Join Barcelona - Agent

Juventus defender Zdenek Grygera has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent days, but the player's agent, Mino Raiola, believes that in the end the Czech Republic international will remain in Turin.
However, Raiola did leave the door open for a possible move this summer, stating that there are many clubs interested in his client.
"For the time being the situation is calm, although interested clubs are not lacking," declared the player's agent to Tuttomercatoweb.com.
"The player is fine at Juventus and they have stated that he is not for sale. However, the transfer market is still long, and as you know, in football anything can happen."
The 29-year-old player joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2007, and has since played a total of 55 league games, contributing three goals for his club.

Amauri: Juventus Played Well In The Trofeo Tim Against Milan & Inter

Juventus striker Amauri was the main protagonist of his side's triumph in the Trofeo Tim against Milan and Inter, which was played on Friday evening, and he has declared himself satisfied with his team's showing.
The Brazilian scored the late equaliser against the Nerazzurri in a game that was eventually won by the Bianconeri from the penalty spot, and he opened the scoring in the 2-0 win against the Rossoneri.
These two results have increased the confidence of the Old Lady, and Amauri believes that the team will improve further in the coming weeks, once the new tactics have been digested by the squad.
"All went well," declared the former Palermo player to Mediaset. "We played a nice game.

"Inter put us a bit in difficulty, but we won. We are assimilating the new tactical setup. It's normal that there are some difficulties during this period."

After an excellent start to last season, the 29-year-old player slowed down during the second part of the campaign, collecting 32 appearances and scoring 12 goals in Serie A.

Juve Win Tim Trophy For The First Time

The final match of the Tim Trophy was contested by Milan and Juventus, who needed to win to win this last match to win the tournament for the first time in their history.

Both sides played in a 4-3-1-2 formation, the Rossoneri with Ronaldinho behind Alexandre Pato and Klaas Jan Huntelaar in attack, while the Bianconeri with Iago behind Amauri and Vincenzo Iaquinta up front.

Milan tried to take control of the match at the start, but as in the match against Inter, they looked toothless in attack.

On their first real chance in the 13th minute, Juve took the lead after a quick counterattack, as Amauri took a shot from the edge of the area that squirmed under the body of new Milan goalkeeper Flavio Roma, who just joined from AS Monaco.

It took a while to see another chance for either side, and once again it fell to Juve, as a cross into the area found Amauri at the far post in the 26th minute, but his shot from a difficult position was saved by Roma.

The Bianconeri made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute, after taking advantage of sloppy play by Milan in midfield. Ronaldinho lost the ball and the ball was played forward quickly to Amauri, who played it to Iaquinta, who in turn slotted the ball past an unconvincing Roma. However, the replays showed the striker was just offside.

Milan finally threatened a little five minutes later, when youngster Ignazio Abate made a run and played in a dangerous cross toward the near post that was deflected away by goalkeeper Alex Manninger.

In the 41st minute, Massimo Oddo tried his luck from a free kick for Milan, and it was not a bad effort but it went just wide of the goal.

That was the last real chance of the match, so Juventus were able to lift the Tim Trophy for the first time ever. They end the tournament with 5 points, while Inter have 4, and Milan finish bottom with 0.

Starting Line Ups
:
Milan (4-3-1-2): Roma; Oddo, Nesta, Favalli, Antonini; Abate, Gattuso, Flamini; Ronaldinho; Pato, Huntelaar. Coach: Leonardo.
Juventus (4-3-1-2): Manninger; Caceres, Chiellini, Le Grottaglie, Marrone; Salihamidzic, Poulsen, Melo; Iago; Amauri, Iaquinta. Coach: Ferrara.

Player of the tournament: Amauri

He scored decisive goals against both Inter and Milan, although in both cases he took advantage of some help from respectively defender Nelson Rivas and goalkeeper Flavio Roma. Overall, though, he was definitely Juve’s most dangerous player on the night and probably the best performer of this edition of the Tim Trophy. Honorable mention goes to Inter's Mario Balotelli, who scored against Milan and also hit the crossbar against the Rossoneri with a terrific free kick.
