With Fiorentina on the verge of completing the signing of Juventus midfielder Cristiano Zanetti, Italian football expert Carlo Nesti has announced his incomprehension at the Old Lady’s latest move.
Following a recent discussion on his very own Nesti Channel, the famed journalist outlined how the move could come back to haunt the Bianconeri.
“I am completely taken aback by Zanetti’s sale to Fiorentina,” he declared.
“Whilst it is true that [Juve coach Ciro] Ferrara wants to use the diamond midfield this season, Zanetti was still the ideal replacement for Felipe Melo.
"Added to the fact that Momo Sissoko is set to sit out for at least two months, it seems strange to let Zanetti leave given the circumstances.”
As negotiations are set to be completed in the next 24 hours, it remains to be seen how Zanetti’s departure will affect Juventus over the course of the season.
