Inter And Juventus Set To Go Head To Head For Lille’s Eden Hazard


According to Tuttosport, Alessio Secco is preparing to go head-to-head with Inter after recently setting eyes on Lille’s Belgian prodigy, Eden Hazard. With a number of clubs including Lazio, Inter, and Chelsea reportedly tracking the 18 year old midfielder, it now seems Juventus are considering a swoop for the promising youngster.

Given Hazard’s technical capabilities as an attacking midfielder, it still remains a mystery why the Bianconeri are in search of such a player given they already have numerous options including Giovinco and Del Piero in a similar area of the field.

With the Belgian expected to remain in France for at least the coming season, it is believed the Bianconeri are set to keep tabs on the youngster who is currently valued at €7m. Taking into account the Nerazzurri’s interest in the player, Secco may have to hijack an eventual bid from Inter if he is to get his hands on the young prodigy.

Juventus Renew Interest In Schalke 04's Rafinha


Although negotiations between Juventus and Schalke 04 appear to have ended over the potential transfer of Christian Poulsen, the Bianconeri are reported to be interested in returning to the Germans with a bid for their right-back Rafinha.

Ciro Ferrara is eager to add the 23-year-old to his exciting squad, but according to Tuttomercatoweb.com, he must sell Zdenek Grygera before he can launch a bid for Rafinha.

There is no lack of interest in Grygera, with Fenerbahce among the clubs interested in the 29-year-old's services, but Juventus are yet to agree a fee with the Turkish side. Fener have offered the Italians €4m for the Czech defender, but this falls short of Juventus' €6m valuation.

Rafinha was signed as a teenager by Brazilian club Coritiba, who also groomed Keirrison from an early age, and his impressive performances bombing forward from defence earned him a move to Schalke in 2005.

The Brazilian fell out with his club last summer, however, after he insisted on competing in the Olympics. Although Die Konigsblauen wanted Rafinha to remain with them for pre-season, the 23-year-old travelled to China nonetheless and incurred a €700,000 fine.

Christian Poulsen Could Remain With Juventus


After weeks in which the Bianconeri have made no secret of their desire to sell the 29-year-old midfielder, reports this morning suggest that other events could lead to Christian Poulsen staying with Juve.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the ongoing injury troubles of Mohamed Sissoko, and the potential sale of Cristiano Zanetti to Fiorentina, have led to a change of thinking at the club.

While a deal for Zanetti is still some way off, the pink paper claims that an agreement between the clubs could be found in the coming hours. The Italian, who arrived at Juventus in 2006, is considered to be a capable replacement for Felipe Melo by the Viola hierarchy.

Juventus are eager to trim some of their midfielders from their squad and had put their efforts into trying to offload Poulsen, but were unable to find a club willing to take the Dane permanently. Any interest from Liverpool for the midfielder wilted, after they signed Roma's Alberto Aquilani instead.

While losing one midfielder would be considered good business by the Old Lady, they have also lost Mohamed Sissoko for at least another four weeks, due to an ongoing foot injury. This will cause him to miss the start of the Serie A season, and Poulsen may be needed in the first team after all.

Sissoko out for 4 weeks



After having undergone a bone scan which confirmed the focal area inflammation of the fractured part, yesterday, Momo Sissoko flew to Lyon for a consultation session with Professor Ferrat, accompanied by Dr. Stefanini, Juventus club doctor and by Professor Gaudino.

In light of the former radiological tests by Professor Faletti and the indications given by the orthopaedic specialists consulted, The Juventus medical staff in agreement with the player, decided to allow him to rest for 4 weeks during which he will undergo medical treatment and physiotherapy apart from training activities and the maintenance of the general muscular toning.

This period of rest is necessary to help the healing of the inflammation, the complete disappearance of the pain symptoms and the prevention of further fractures. After this period, the player will undergo further clinical tests and presumably get back to specific activities on the field.

Juve, 50 millions for transfer market in 2010


Juventus To Target Ribery, Mexes, Pandev, Cassano & Rossi In 2010

TURIN, August 8 - Juventus will have a budget of €50 million to spend on transfers next summer, and they have drawn up a long list of potential targets, with Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery at the very top.

Despite the economic crisis that is ravaging clubs around the world, Juventus remain one of the healthiest teams in circulation, and earlier this week it was revealed that they had closed the 2008-09 season with a profit of more than €6m.

Although it is unlikely Juve will dip any further into the market this summer following the expensive arrivals of Diego and Felipe Melo, Tuttosport claims that there will be money to burn in the summer of 2010.

The Turin-based paper claims that the Bianconeri will splash at least €50m on new signings, and the priority is to acquire French star Ribery, who now seems likely to stay in Bavaria for one last campaign.

Other targets include Lazio’s Goran Pandev, who could arrive on a free transfer as his contract in the capital runs out in June 2010. A top-class centre-back is also required, with Roma’s Philippe Mexes the favourite. Sampdoria’s Antonio Cassano and Villarreal’s Giuseppe Rossi are also reportedly admired by the Juventus hierarchy.

With Juve’s finances so healthy, and with so many other big clubs struggling with debt, the future certainly looks bright for the Old Lady.

Ciro Ferrara : "It’s better to take a blow like that at this time"


Juventus and Villarreal squared off in a pre-season friendly last night, just a couple of weeks out from the commencement of their respective seasons.

What was expected to be a tight fixture proved to be anything but, as the Spanish outfit incredibly eased to a 4-1 victory, after racing to a three-goal advantage midway through the second half.

Despite the heavy defeat, the boss of the Bianconeri, Ciro Ferrara, was accepting of the result, and felt that it was needed in the lead up to the new campaign.

“We did not play well tonight, however we do accept the final result on the pitch,” Ferrara explained to Rai.
“It’s better to take a blow like that at this time, rather than when the season gets underway.
“We have been covered with praise lately, as we have done fairly well so far. However tonight we were beaten by a great team,” he added.
Ferrara was then questioned about the amount of work he has been putting his players through, and whether or not that may have affected the eventual outcome on the night.
“We must not think like this, as we are solely working to ensure that we are fully prepared for the start of the season,” he reasoned.
“Yesterday we did a double workout, and we will continue to work at a high rate until we are ready.
“We want to be one of the strongest teams, so we know that we must continue to work hard. Tonight we are very disappointed, but we still believe that we are very strong.”
